BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Bring your dogs, cats, other living pets, photos of beloved furry friends who don't love being with others and join us for a worship service of music and celebrating God's creatures. Please bring dye-free dog and cat food for Abandoned Pet Rescue, a local no-kill shelter.
CREATIVE SPIRIT PAINT A WOODEN NATIVITY

Boys and girls, kindergarten and up, with mom are invited to come paint a wooden nativity with Pastor Monique. It's part of the Creative Spirit series of art gatherings. This session will cost $30 per family by check to Christ Church or cash. A-L last names bring a savory treat to share. M-Z, a sweet treat to share. Limit 30 families. You are invited to join Pastor Cathy for a book discussion on the impact of Christ's birth in the world, then and now. Take a deep dive into a story that is both familiar and extraordinary. Explore the biblical and historical context of the birth of Christ as best-selling author Scott Hann unpacks how a baby born in Bethlehem, surrounded by a star, shepherds, angels, an emperor, and animals changed the world forever. We'll discuss the book at 1:30pm at John Knox Village and 5:30pm at Christ Church. Participants will acquire their own books; it is also available online with Kindle and audiobook options. It's time to prepare for the Family Christmas Concert! Children are welcome to volunteer for various roles in this special tradition of Christ Church. Children PK4- first grade are invited to dress as the people of the Christmas story and stand on the altar steps as the story of Christmas is read. Costumes are provided. Children second through eighth grade are invited to be readers and introduce the musical performances and tell the Christmas story in rhyme. Christmas best attire is requested for readers. All children are also invited to sing a Christmas song they've been learning with Mr. Woodard and join in as Joy to the World is sung by all.
