House of the Lord | Jonathan Smith & Phil Wickham
We worship the God who was

We worship the God who is

We worship the God who evermore will be

He opened the prison doors

He parted the raging sea

My God, he holds the victory yeah

There’s joy in the house of the Lord

There’s joy in the house of the Lord today

And we won’t be quiet

We shout out your praise

There’s joy in the house of the Lord

Our God is surely in this place

And we won’t be quiet

We shout out your praise

Oh oh oh

We shout out your praise

We sing to the God who heals

We sing to the God who saves

We sing to the God who always makes a way

'Cause he hung up on that cross

Then he rose up from that grave

My God’s still rolling stones away

('Cause) We were the beggars

Now we’re royalty

We were the prisoners

Now we’re running free

We are forgiven accepted

Redeemed by his grace

Let the house of the Lord sing praise

There is joy in this house oh yeah

There is joy there is joy

And we won't be quiet

We're gonna shout out your praise

We shout out your praise

There is joy in this house

There is joy in this house today

We shout out your praise

We shout out your praise

WELCOME & WAYS TO CONNECT | christchurchfl.org/ways2connect

Pastors Paytyn Tobin, Alex Shanks and Monique McBride
Please see below for the day’s announcements.

* CALL TO WORSHIP | Richard Sheffield, liturgist
Light the lamps, prepare the room, God is coming to us!
We stand on the threshold of joy, awaiting the arrival of the promised light.

In the quiet hush of this Advent moment, we open our hearts to the transformative power of divine love.

The prophets’ voices echo through the ages, heralding the coming of the Messiah, a beacon of hope in a world longing for redemption.

May the light of Advent guide us to a deeper connection with the source of all love.

Let us prepare our hearts to welcome the Christ child, the embodiment of God's boundless love. Amen.

* CONGREGATIONAL HYMN

The First Noel | The United Methodist Hymnal No. 245 (verses 1,2)

The first Noel the angel did say

was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay:

in fields where they lay keeping their sheep,

on a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

(refrain) Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star

shining in the east, beyond them far;

and to the earth it gave great light,

and so it continued both day and night. (refrain)

* OPENING PRAYER
Loving God, we gather on this fourth Sunday of Advent filled with anticipation and joy as we prepare to celebrate the imminent arrival of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we hear the story of Mary and Elizabeth, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the gift of relationships, recognizing that you are at work in the very fabric of our connections with one another. Standing on the threshold of Christmas, fill us with a sense of wonder and awe at the miracle of your love incarnate. Open our eyes to the ways in which we can share that love with others. May the joy and love of this season permeate our lives throughout the coming year. In the name of Jesus, our Emmanuel, we pray. Amen.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
We believe that creation is inextricably linked.

We belong to one another in an undeniable way.

We are bone of bone and flesh of flesh, life breathed into dust.

We believe that God invites us to live into that truth— to love without abandon,

to see the good in one another,

to trust that all belong to God.

We know that this life of connection is easier said than done,
which is why we gather in this space, week after week,
generation after generation, to be reminded:

We see God in each other. This we believe. Amen.

“Rev. Sarah (Are) Speed | A Sanctified Art LLC | sanctifiedart.org.”

* GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

MUSIC MINISTRY
Mary did you Know  | Buddy Greene & Mark Lowry
Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Would one day walk on water

Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Would save our sons and daughters

Did you know

That your baby boy

Has come to make you new

This Child that you delivered

Will soon deliver you

Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Would give sight to the blind man

Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Would calm a storm with His hand

Did you know

That your baby boy

Has walked where angels trod

And when you kiss your little baby

You've kissed the face of God

Oh Mary did you know

Ooh Mary did you know ooh ooh

The blind will see

The deaf will hear

The dead will live again

The lame will leap

The dumb will speak

The praises of the Lamb

Oh Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Is Lord of all creation

Mary did you know

That your baby boy

Will one day rule the nations

Did you know

That your baby boy

Is heaven's perfect Lamb

And the sleeping Child you're holding

Is the great I Am

Oh Mary oh

SCRIPTURE

Luke 1:46-55 | Common English Bible

46 Mary said,
“With all my heart I glorify the Lord!
47  In the depths of who I am I rejoice in God my savior.
48 He has looked with favor on the low status of his servant.
Look! From now on, everyone will consider me highly favored
49  because the mighty one has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
50  He shows mercy to everyone,
from one generation to the next,
who honors him as God.
51 He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered those with arrogant thoughts and proud inclinations.
52  He has pulled the powerful down from their thrones
and lifted up the lowly.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away empty-handed.
54 He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
remembering his mercy,
55  just as he promised to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to Abraham’s descendants forever.”

These are the words of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

MUSIC MINISTRY
This Christmastide (Jessye’s carol) | Donald Fraser
Chancel Choir
Green and silver, red and gold and a story born of old, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. Holly, ivy, mistletoe and the gently falling snow, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. From a simple ox's stall came the greatest gift of all, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. Children sing of hope and joy at the birth of one small boy, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. Let the bells ring loud and clear, ring out now, for all to hear, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. Trumpets sound and voices raise in an endless stream of praise, Truth and love and hope abide, this Christmastide. Green and silver, red and gold and a story born of old, Peace and love and hope abide, this Christmastide.

MORNING PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

* HYMN OF COMMITMENT
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear | The United Methodist Hymnal No. 218 (verses 1,2,3,4)
It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old,
from angels bending near the earth, to touch their harps of gold:
“Peace on the earth, good will to men, from heaven’s all gracious King.”
The world in solemn stillness lay, to hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they come with peaceful wings unfurled,
and still their heavenly music floats o’er all the weary world;
above its sad and lowly plains, they bend on hovering wing,
and ever o’er its Babel sounds the blessed angels sing.

And ye, beneath life’s crushing load, whose forms are bending low,
who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow,
look now! for glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing.
O rest beside the weary road, and hear the angels sing!

For lo! the days are hastening on, by prophets seen of old,
when with the ever circling years shall come the time foretold
when peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendors fling,
and the whole world send back the song which now the angels sing.

* RESPONSE
O Little Town of Bethlehem | The United Methodist Hymnal No. 230 (verse 4)
O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!
