The Rainbow Alliance is a group of LGBTQ+ individuals, families, advocates, allies and friends who work to affirm and achieve justice for LGBTQ+ persons both in the community and within in the life and leadership of the Christ Church.
Among the group's accomplishments and activities:
Christ Church's journey to become openly inclusive community began in October 2020, when a group of individuals voted to create a Reconciling Group. In March 2022, Christ Church became a Reconciling Church, part of the international Reconciling Ministries Network, working for the full participation of all LGBTQ+ people throughout the life and leadership of the church and the United Methodist denomination in the United States. Here is the charter we adopted then and are guided by now.
Paige Darnell, a lifelong Christ Church member, shared her story with Pastor David McEntire during worship services on Sunday, June 30, 2024. In her testimony, she described the Christ Church's transition to an openly inclusive church made space for her to return to her church family and fully experience God's love. Watch the video below.
