Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry dedicated to eradicating substandard housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes. Families who receive Habitat homes make monthly payments on a no-profit, no-interest mortgage, and each family is expected to contribute 500 hours of sweat equity working with Habitat volunteers. Habitat homes are affordable, in large part, because volunteers keep construction costs down.
The newest way to help those seeking to become homeowners is to become Nurture Partner. Nurture Partners commit to walking with prospective owners through the application and qualification process for a home. Click here to read about this exciting and relational way to serve our community. For more information, email Cynthia Martin of Habitat for Humanity Broward County.
At Habitat for Humanity, work days begin promptly at 7:15am and end about 12:30pm. No construction experience is necessary. Habitat provides the training, tools and materials—you provide the heart and hands to help build a home for a deserving family. PLEASE NOTE: VOLUNTEERS MUST WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in all roofing, tasks that require a ladder, or any task that requires the use of power tools. In keeping with federal labor laws and risk to children's safety, no one under the age of 16 is permitted on an active Habitat Broward construction site.
